First of all, admission time. I had never heard of Tim Tigner until out of the blue I received a message from Tim himself via after he'd read an earlier review I had written. (Talk about going the extra mile for your readership!) He suggested that I download and read this free novella, because he thought I would like it. Well, gift horses and all that, plus being a little flattered that the guy could be bothered to personally contact me, download it I did.I have to say I wasn't disappointed, th [...]

I’ve had the privilege of reading some great fiction recently and Tim Tigner’s “Chasing Ivan” is no exception. I picked up a free copy from the author’s website and having read all his other books, I was excited about his latest novella. And oh boy, does he come through with yet another exciting story. Better yet, not only is this a standalone story but it’s a prequel to his upcoming Achilles series with the first story set to release in 2016.Now, if you’ve never read any of his st [...]

Chasing Ivan by Tim Tigner is a fast paced thriller that I could not put down. The main character, Agent Adam “Achilles” Healy, is someone that you want on your side. Achilles is creative and quick on his feet. Achilles is paired up with a thief gone straight named Agent Jo Monfort who was trained by The Agency. The two work as a team to hunt for Ivan the Ghost before an unsuspecting woman named Emily, who is under Ivan's spell, becomes his next victim. I don't want to say any more and ruin [...]

Good, quick action tale with a pair of amazing agents being directed by a couple of idiot bosses. Good pace and action set in the multi-millionaire world of Monte Carlo. The character development is brisk and superficial. We don't really learn much about our 'superhero' and what his motivations, fears, and goals are. Perhaps later books in the series fill us in more deeply? I enjoyed it, but more like a 'guilty pleasure', because it wasn't much more than a comic book.

A powerfully addictive story by an exciting new author.A fast paced novella that holds your attention to the very last sentence.I look forward to following Achilles as the series continues.

This is the second Tim Tigner book I've read and it didn't disappoint. Chasing Ivan is a short (150p novella) thriller that is set at a time before the Kyle Achilles series and provides some great background on the main character, Kyle. The plot is quite cool and hooked me in without any reluctance from my side. A secretive bad guy for hire by the rich (Ivan the Ghost) has always baffled the authorities. He never leaves clues, and no one even knows what he looks like. Enter, Kyle Achilles, a CIA [...]

This has been a week of firsts, this is my fourth book this week by an author previously unknown to meA operative Kyle Achilles is on the hunt for Ivan the ghost, a man who destroys peoples lives "but these falls from grace can be explained away by bad luck and circumstance".Achilles is given a lead to run down by his boss the director of the CIA and we follow him as he tries to track Ivan.I liked the idea of this bronze winning Olympic Biathlete turned wreckless rock climber with no soldiering [...]

Chasing Ivan is a real page-turner with interesting, non-stop action from the first page to the (almost) last. And with all that action there is still plenty of character development. The main characters feel like real people. That's unusual in a short novel and it places Chasing Ivan a cut above the standard chase novella. If I have one criticism it's this: it is made clear that Ivan isn't a cold blooded killer. He's more of an extortionist for hire. After he had committed his crimes, nobody bu [...]

For the full effect of this review click here. This book was like a live action movie. Take Mission Impossible as an example and comparison. Agent Achilles is searching The Ghost, the most silent criminal the world has ever seen. And a master at evading the authorities. And while spying two politician's kids in hope one might be targeted; there are those sitting on chairs barking orders at our agent to eliminate said ghost by any means necessary, even putting but in danger the romantically smitte [...]

There aren't many books out there that are so good they keep me up late at night cause I just can't bring myself to put it down. Chasing Ivan was one of those few books. Fast paced, full of action and detail that kept my attention from start to finish. This is the fourth novel I've read by Tim Tigner, while it is a work in progress, it was a page turner comparable to some of my favorite Vince Flynn books. I've read the beta version of Pushing Brilliance and now Chasing Ivan, I can tell Adam “A [...]

Fast-paced, addictive and a damn good story! I loved the narrative style which allowed Achilles to tell me what he was doing as he was doing it well as what he was thinking (barbs and all). I found myself exclaiming out loud "Oh No, Now What?", numerous times as I turned the pages to see what happened next. Tim has a knack of describing the inevitable acts of violence that leave a spot-on visual without the gruesome details (and some are even kind of humorous). I highly recommend this book to an [...]

Another great book by Tim. Easy to read, and hard to put down. It's a good introduction to Kyle Achilles. He's a tough guy with the skill set to match. The book starts out with a very like able character in Emily, it's one of the things that pulled me in straight away. There's also plenty of twists and turns, and I found myself reading faster to find out what happens. Add this book to your list, it's worth reading.

I usually love a good action/thriller or mystery type book. While this book was had a lot of action in it, I just felt like something was missing. I felt because the book was so short that the author attempted to cram a lot into a short story. It also seemed that there wasn't a lot of character development and personality, again I think it can be attributed to the short length. I can see the potential for the story being something more, but overall it just seemed to miss the mark for me.

I loved this novella. It started out fast and never stopped. It held my interest and I liked the characters. Achilles will remain interesting through multiple books and I really liked Jo. She was an interesting addition. I'm new to this author and wonder why he isn't better known. I highly recommend this for a quick read to introduce you to the author. If you already know him you'll want to read this.

Longer than a short story but shorter than a full novel, Chasing Ivan wastes no time in building the suspense. A girl plans a date with someone she met online. Sure, things might turn out a little different than she hopes, but she never expected this. Of course you need to read the book to find out what 'this' is. That's OK, you'll enjoy it.

    18. Doug Branscombe on said:

This book serves a prequel to Pushing Brilliance, from a character introduction. Fast paced read, lost of great action as they try to catch a long wanted "ghost" operative at a high falutin affair near Cannes on the Mediterranean. As with Pushing Brilliance, Tigner does a great job leaving you wanting for more at the end.

    19. Arun on said:

A exciting little novella. The author doesn't waste page estate with unnecessary back-stories and boring plot build-ups. We are, instead, thrown right in the middle of an exciting fox-hunt and are treated to an exciting game of cat and mouse. The ending seemed a little abrupt but overall, a thrilling little book.

I really enjoyed this novella introducing Achilles, a very likable CIA agent, chasing one of the world's most elusive criminals. fast paced and action packed, this was a quick and fun read. I look forward to the next entry in the Achilles series.
