      The inspiration behind this journey is for Anne Mustoe to travel from the site of Cleopatra’s Needle on the Thames in London to the place in Egypt where the original monument came from, Heliopolis. Once again she would travel alone on her bike and to add to the challenge would follow the course of rivers and seas where possible. Her journey will take through four European countries and across the Alps before crossing the Adriatic and heading down towards where Europe meets Aisa; Turkey. The la [...]

      My second journey with Anne Mustoe. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as her first but it's still a great journey well told.

      My 2008 bookcrossing review:Finished this one today. It was pretty interested - perhaps not the most engagingly written travel book I've ever come across, but it was all right. She was completely mad though - one of these old tally-ho English women. Visiting Cleopatra's Needle in London, she suddenly thinks, yes, what I need to do is cycle from London to the Nile along waterways as much as possible. As you do. Oh, and her bike it had a name!!!       This isn't my favourite Anne Mustoe. Preferred her first book, the Lone Rider? Lone Ranger? Anyway that one! They all make me wanna buy a bike and a waterproof cape and leave though. Have resisted the urge, so far.
